Son las vacaciones de primavera y decidimos conocer algo más de los Estados Unidos: Arizona y Nuevo México. Para no correr mayores riesgos volvimos a decidirnos por una vacación en casa rodante tras nuestra buena experiencia en Alaska.
Salimos de Atlanta en vuelo directo hacia Phoenix como siempre con todas las precauciones para Covid 19. Nos seguimos sintiendo seguros con las medidas que ha tomado Delta y en todo caso el vuelo estaba a un 30% de capacidad.
Por el contrario, tuvimos una gran desilusión con nuestra RV. Nos dieron un vehículo en muy mal estado de mantenimiento, puertas que no se cierran, cajones que se caen, etc. y sabanas de poliéster! No vamos a dejar que eso nos amargue el paseo; después de las respectivas compras empezamos el turismo con la visita al jardín botánico del desierto. Se podría pensar que no habría mucho que ver, sin embargo tienen una increíble variedad. Es un jardín espectacular! Tiene 25000 plantas de 100 familias diferentes, la mayoría cactus y diversos tipos de agaves y suculentas. Hay cactus de varios metros de altura y otros diminutos como pequeños dedos. Agaves verdes y otros casi azules. Difícil imaginar que habría tanta variedad.
Es ya el final de la tarde así que vamos a buscar un lugar para ver el famoso atardecer de Arizona. Con un cielo totalmente despejado, entre decenas de personas despedimos el día en un naranja intenso
It's spring break and we decided to learn more about the United States: Arizona and New Mexico. To not take any great risk and after our good experience in Alaska, we decided, again, on a RV vacation.
We left Atlanta by direct flight to Phoenix, as always with all the precautions for Covid 19. We still feel safe with the measures Delta has taken and in any case, the flight was at 30% capacity.
On the contrary, we had a great disappointment with our RV. We were given a vehicle in extremely poor maintenance condition, doors that do not close, falling drawers, etc., and polyester sheets! We are not going to let that make us bitter about the ride; after the respective purchases we went to our first stop of the trip, the visit to the botanical garden of the desert. You might think there would not be much to see, yet they have an amazing variety. It's a spectacular garden! It has 25000 plants from 100 different families, most of the cacti and various types of agaves and succulents. There are cacti several meters high and other tiny ones like small fingers. Green agaves and others almost blue. Hard to imagine there would be so much variety.
It's already the end of the afternoon so we find a place to watch Arizona's famous sunset. With a totally clear sky, among dozens of people, we set off the day in an intense orange.
